4. Poltergeist

I just realized that I happened to skip number 4!

Number 4 on our list is Poltergeist. If The Ring didn't make you afraid of the static on the TV then this movie will. Lost ghosts and a demon take over the home of the Freeling family. They know their fears and use them to their advantage, eventually sucking the littlest into the bedroom closet. Super Creepy stuff here, people!

Little Bit of Horror On the Home Front

I just happened to be looking up some haunted places in Kansas when I came by a story in Emporia. The story goes that a minister and his mistress decide to drug his wife and send her and her car flying off a bridge, known as Bird Bridge. It is said that you can see the apparition of a woman walking down to the shore and you can hear screams. What really caught my attention was that this story was made into a movie in 1987. Even though it's not a scary movie and doesn't have anything to do with the apparitions, I still thought it was a pretty cool little fact. It was even filmed in Emporia.

1. The Thing

Last but certainly not least, number 1, The Thing. What's more worse than living in Antarctica and studying science? How about being killed off, one-by-one, by a shapeshifting alien that takes the form of your  colleagues after it kills them? Yea, I think that's pretty scary too.
















This was, by far, my favorite scene. Runaway alien head!

2. Jaws

Number 2, Jaws, is the one reason why I can't swim in open ocean...ever. It's graphics may be pretty bad but its central theme is scary as all get out. Sharks are just scary in general, but a gigantic one that breaks apart a boats and eats people is about a trillion times as scary.

3. The Exorcist

Another one of my favorite movies of all time! Number 3, The Exorcist. Any exorcism movie really gets me freaked out. That supernatural stuff is really creepy because you can't see it! It's all psychological scare factor. This movie, however, likes to show everything. And when I say everything, I mean everything. If you haven't seen it before, be prepared for some wild and very "adult" scenes. This is the famous "spider walk" scene.

5. Ju-on

My favorite movie of all time and number 5 on the list is the Japanese horror movie, Ju-on. This film is most commonly known in the US by it's remake, The Grudge. I don't know what it is about this film, whether it's the creepy cat noises the kid makes or just that fact that everyone in this movie looks creepy as heck, but I always get freaked out by it every time I watch it. Even watching the trailer gives me the chills.
